[PETITION] Clemency for Grandma With Cancer in Sungai Udang Prison
Ani Anggraeni (actually Asih) was arrested and convicted for an offence that took place at Penang International Airport. Her application for pardon should be directed to the The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Dato' Seri Utama Haji Ramli bin Ngah Talib.
The Pardon Board for Penang is managed by the Pardon Board Section within the DUN Department in the Penang State Government [Seksyen Lembaga Pengampunan, Bahagian Dewan Undangan Negeri, Pejabat Setiausaha Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang].
The link below will send a letter seeking clemency on behalf of Asih to the SUK Pulau Pinang.

Your Excellency,
I came to be aware of the unfortunate case of Ani Anggraeni (body number: 421100365), who is now 65 years old and recovering from cancer.
She was arrested on 21 June 2011 at Penang International Airport and sentenced to death for drug trafficking in 2013. She was later resentenced to life and had health complications during her imprisonment. She suffered from Stage 3 Uterine Cancer and is currently in remission and receiving follow-up treatments. She experienced continuous uterine bleeding for two years before undergoing surgery in 2024 to remove a potentially cancerous cyst. Even with treatment, she still suffers from chronic back pain, urinary discomfort, and hypertension.
While imprisoned, she lost contact with her family in 2018 and was only reconnected with them after assistance from HAYAT and LBHM in Jakarta on 9 August 2024. Her family thought she had died in detention and gave up hope of her coming home.
New information collected by HAYAT and LBHM uncovered that she was likely a victim of human trafficking. She was recruited to deliver clothing and had no travel outside Indonesia before her arrest. Syndicate members fraudulently obtained her passport, which does not contain her name or her actual identity.
Ani has served almost 15 years in prison. She has paid for her mistake dearly. I am appealing on her behalf for clemency so that she may have a chance to go home to Indonesia, to go home to her family and make them whole again.
Yours sincerely,
